Cable & Wireless Seychelles (CWS) once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship and civic responsibility by actively participating in the annual Victoria Clean-Up Campaign. Organised by the Acting Mayor of Victoria, Ms Lydia Charlie, this initiative brings together businesses, organisations, and volunteers in a collective effort to maintain the cleanliness and beauty of the capital city.
As a regular supporter of this initiative, CWS once again facilitated the clean-up of Rue de la possession - a historic stretch of road previously known as Francis Rachel Street - on Saturday 15th March. The work was carried out by the company’s dedicated cleaning team, who ensured the area was thoroughly cleared of debris. To complete the effort, power-washing of the sidewalks was conducted on Sunday 16th March, further enhancing the cleanliness and appeal of the surroundings.
With a legacy dating back to 1893, CWS is not just a telecommunications provider but a fundamental part of Seychelles' history. As one of the oldest companies in Victoria, CWS has played a pivotal role in connecting people and businesses for over a century. From the early days of telegraphy to being the first to introduce mobile and 5G technology in the country, CWS has continually embraced progress while staying deeply rooted in its corporate social responsibilities.
Participating in the Victoria Clean-Up Campaign is one of the many ways CWS upholds its duty as a good corporate citizen. The initiative aligns with the company’s core values of sustainability, community engagement, and pride in the country’s heritage.
“We take great pride in being part of Victoria’s history and future. As one of the city’s longest-standing companies, we recognise our responsibility in preserving its charm and contributing to a cleaner, healthier environment,” said Ms Carinne Houareau, PR, Events & Sponsorship Executive at CWS.
Through continued efforts like this, CWS reaffirms its commitment to making a tangible difference in the community, ensuring that Seychelles’ capital remains a vibrant and welcoming place for residents and visitors alike.
